Meet-ups

What actually happens
on the night.

A rough shape rather than a rigid agenda. Sessions shift depending on who is presenting and what the room wants to dig into.

The shape of an evening

Doors, content, vBeers.

Most meet-ups run as a lunch and learn or an after-work session, hosted at the VMware Sydney office unless a sponsor puts up a venue. Exact times are always on the registration page.

First 20 min

Arrive, eat, say hello

Food and drinks are on before anything starts. If it is your first one, say so — someone will introduce you around rather than leave you standing near the sandwiches.

Then ~10 min

Welcome and community update

What is coming up locally, what is worth knowing from the wider VMware and Broadcom ecosystem, and a thank you to whoever is feeding us.

Bulk of it

Technical sessions

One or two deep-dives. Slides that show the config beat slides that show a quadrant. Speakers come from the local community, from Broadcom, and from partners who are prepared to get technical.

Last 20 min

Open Q&A

Unfiltered. Licensing, upgrade paths, the migration that went sideways — the room is the point.

Afterwards

vBeers

Somewhere walkable. Optional, well attended, and where most of the useful contacts get made.

  • Day-2 NSX lifecycle
  • Live patching framework
  • VCF 9.1 common services
  • NSX VPCs and VNAs
  • Open Q&A and roadmap discussion

Who presented

Practical notes

Before you come

Is it free?

Yes. Registration exists so we cater the right numbers and know how many chairs to put out. Nothing else.

Do I need to work for a big shop?

No. The room runs from a handful of hosts up to a few thousand. The problems rhyme more than you would expect.

Is it a sales pitch?

Sponsors fund the food and the venue and are named plainly. They present technical content or they do not present. If a session turns into a pitch, tell us — that feedback shapes who we book.

What if I do not know anyone?

Email [email protected] beforehand and say it is your first one. Someone will find you on the night.

Are photos taken?

Usually, and they end up on our social channels. Tell any of the organisers if you would rather not be in them and we will keep you out of shot.
